something rather strange

Here's a new song that is rather different... The drums follow a pattern where the 1 is on the first count the first pattern... then 1 is on the second count the second pattern. Then 1 is one the third count the third pattern then 1 is on the fourth count the on the fourth pattern and then the pattern repeats... Like I said strange.

The cohesive groove is done with just bass and guitar...with some quirky organ fills (yes those sounds were intentional) LOL!

The begining starts with a recording of my alarm clock (with a minor third harmony added) and guitar.

Well, the song is called "Fashions"

Am I the only musician that knows that my alarm clock pulses a E note??? LOL!

Still mixing it.... What do you guys think?

Nice and quirky - in a good way. The guitar tone is perfect for the quirky feel. I like the singer a lot. And the alarm clock thing was cool. The snare-hi hat riff might be a little much the way it's sitting in the mix (during the song part). Probably it's just the snare being a little to loud. Bass could be a little punchier. But really interesting and cool stuff overall.

Now the fun thing to do is keep the drums steady and add an extra beat to the guitar part until they meet up again. Then get rid of the extra beat. There's a couple drummers I know who hate me for trying that stuff.

I think your wife did a much better job on the vocals for this one. The tune suits her voice and style here. I'm a big fan of those shifting type of riffs.

I like your bass tone, but with a touch more bottom on it. Drums a little too in the face. singer is cool, sounds like she`s behond the group singing though. Guitar is smoking.
Interesting game with the meter. I like that

a very cool tune that grooves!

..but those comp-drums are squeezing the groove out of it - you need get the drum-track played by a real drummer(a funky one)
plus, they're way too loud

cheers

Thanks for the listen guys...

I'm still mixing so I'll bring the drums back a bit... and I a gree the snare is a bit much. I'll also work on the bass a bit!

Nice 'verb right off the bat. Shows some class :)

The rhythm stuff reminds me of Pink Floyd's and even Led Zeppelin's experiments w/tempo. Very cool.

Clean tracking. Drums have got to go... and you know that :D At least some better (more dynamic) snare drum samples.

Nice harmonies. Has TripleM heard this?

The gtr flourishes (solos?) are loud in your mix....

A real bass as opposed to that synth would kick this in the teeth the right way, and help with some depth. The drums are killing ya here, tho... maybe someone here could pony up some nice drum trax ... ? (always nice to volunteer the talent, here :p)

I like the creativity and effort. IMO if this is done right you get a really tasty musical fruit that everyone wants t'eat.

This is one of a handful of songs in the clinic (right now) that I definitely would like to hear more work on. Please keep us posted. And maybe some magic drums will float your way... if you're up for collaboration :)
