ok i was thinking that it would be posible for someone like me to lay down all the tracks to the song, then send each track seperatly to someone online with all the right studio and editing programs to fix up the tracks and make them sound studio quality, and have that person send the whole song back sounding good....i dunno its an idea is anyone up to trying this with me because i dunno what im doing lol

I've tried to do this but ran into phasing problems because the tracks didn't quite line up on the other end of the line. This is basically "online mixing", and should probably be the way to do things in the next few years.

It's done all the time. Getting the tracks to other people is pretty easy. You just export seperate .wav files for each track and send them over the net or mail a CD or DVD. The real issue is whether anyone can clean up your tracks enough.

Tracks aren't made 'studio quality' during the mix they are made studio quality during the tracking.

I've done this with friends that have the same apps although it isn't necessary - they send me the 'project' (like Cool Edit Pro or Sonar) which includes all the files sync'd up and such.

You can sync up the files by had but that's not a bunch of fun - especially if someone has clipped the tracks into events that must be individually sync'd. So when working with someone like this I just ask them to provide complete individual tracks from start to end - no gaps.

What you get is exactly what Texroadkill mentioned - a variety that may or may not come together sonically. I work at the home project level (this is homerecording.com - right ?) so I would guess different quality of recorded tracks is to be expected.

It does work out nicely though in the end and it's a lot of fun.

Sure, it's possible. I would say the fun is in learning yourelf. What I would do instead is attempt to mix it and then put the song up on the 'mixing clinic' forum to get some advice on how to make it better, not to simply have someone do it for you. This way many people could hear the song and give advice, you then try and learn, and you are better for it.

i just need a decent sounding song right now, i wanna hear what my band sounds like all studio out lol so if any ones up for helping me doing something with my tracks email me heavyriffs@hotmail.com thanks
