The VOICE
I was cleaning out the storage locker this week and happened on a set of CD's with the rough cuts from an old session... tracked in the fall of '02. Not the greatest sound quality around, but the tunes were (I thought) pretty decent:

Side note: The singer from this group went on to write and perform the original music for the last few seasons of MTV's "Real World," & was a really cool guy to work with.

All songs were recorded @ the home studio. Jeff played a Martin D16, Rick had an old Fender (don't remember what kind), and we used an Audio-Technica AT-3525 mic on the guitar body (and then again for vocals) and an AT-3528 on the neck. The harmonica was tracked with an SM-58, and the percussion on "Santa Domingo" was done with a '57 on the low conga and a '58 on the high, panned hard L/R. "Santa Domingo" was a bit of a goof-off... we were playing around with ideas for their album and sort of wrote it on the spot in the control room with Jeff on guitar/vocals and me on percussion - that's why it sounds a little "off" versus the other cuts and obviously has a very rough feel to it.

This sounds very professional, David.
I listened to Santo Domingo, totally cool latin stuff. Voice is great and just right for this style. Nice sound on those acoustics and the bongos are panned nicely. I'll be listening to the other ones too. Great stuff!

Cheers
Joe :):):):)

Nice! The bongos in "Santa Domingo" sound very pleasing to the ears. The song doesn't sound like it was written on the spot at all.

The vocal reverb in "No Lessons" sounds nice. Kinda reminds me of a live concert. :D

Coincidence - nice clean recording! John Mayer might have stole some of his material from you guys....:D
