I put this song together in just a few hours the other day. I'd like to know what you think of it, any parts, writing, production, my poor singing (yes, but at least I refuse to use autotune:)). Anyways, if you have heard any of my stuff this is very different. Recorded with 6 tracks in SonarXL. The vocal is a C-1 through an Art TubePac, which I am suddenly re-discovering lately. Acoustic is direct from the piezo, cause I wanted that piezo sound on it. Loops and my JV1010 complete the process.

"Walk On"

Thanks for listening:)

I'm so glad this is working again!!!

very nice moody tune. the drum sounds like a cheezy casio keyboard though....and seriously detract imo. I'd almost prefer finger snaps, or something instead. Your singing cuts it...autotune or not!! I am sure you could do better with a little more effort, but this was a quickie you said. I like the gtr and pad...they go well together.

getting back to the drums...you might just consider leaving them out, and get a track of something melodically musical to keep the beat instead. It could be extremely simplistic too. nice tune, bro.

JUST WHAT ARE YOU SAYING??? AUTOTUNE IS THE GREATEST INVENTION SINCE THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR IN 1520!!

You always gripe about your voice, but I don't think I've heard flatty yet, in any of the stuff that you sing. Yeah, this is different for you, but I'd hardly call it "Easy Listening," because I have almost as much disdain for that "genre" as most people do for autotune.

However, this is definitely very easy to listen to. Really cool. If I had to bitch about something, it'd be about the classical git tone on the right. Just sounds kinda' DI'd; it may not be, but that's what I'm hearing. Sheeeshus, though, you can definitely play a guitar.

I really like this tune. It's a "mature" and personal tune, and I tend to like those.

I just saw that. Ignore my comments. Tone is in the ear of the beholder. :D

pretty good man........the voice sounds great...no auto tune needed.............i saw a complaint about the drums, but i actually kinda like them......nice work......good song

:) I just knew you'd say something about my comment. Yeah, the piezo thing was meant to be that way. What I really wanted was my classical guitar back, but I let my girlfriend borrow it at college. Soemtimes I like that direct thing. There's this group, Burlap to Cashmere that I really like and they used the piezo sound quite a bit. Thanks for kind words about my voice. It's just that I'm around great songers alot, so it makes me quite shy about it.

It's just a cheap Acid loop:) I use them alot for demos though, cause of the ease of use. IF this ended up getting used, it would all be live tracked. I looked for another one, but none fit. I'll take a look at the rythmic element to improve it.

Thanks so much,

nice tune(s)

Nice work and a great tune man. I caught the other two you got up there, really nice stuff. That guitar work in "FLY" made me think of David Grishem(sp). First I've listened to any of your tunes, I'll be watching out for more to come...

I like your stuff. clean arrangements.. cant offer much as far as mixing goes. The snare seemed a little tinny in Walk On, otherwise it was a turn on man.

H2H,

I think the canned snare sound works perfect for this song, (Great song by the way) especially if you don't try to pass it off as as a real snare - you know, like "That's how I wanted it to sound man." For me it was part of the mood of the piece - I dug it.

The voice also fits the piece very well. I know we've talked about this here before, but I usually prefer to hear the song sung by the songwriter.

Cool tune!
I really dig the laid back sound of your voice, very mello.
Great delivery.
Excellent writing,very soulful stuff.

I don't know if it matters, but Neil Young had a song with the same title.
Might be a concern if you publish it?

Great work,I really enjoyed it,thanks.

Happy holidays,
Pete

couldnt agree more - this really feels like a mature, personal song. It has a great 'self-enclosed' feel, like you were totally, intensely focussed on what you wanted during those 6 hours.

Maybe blazing stuff down quickly is the best way - doesn't give the demons much of a chance to interfere.

Thanks for the listen,
Klytus

thanks for listening and responding everyone!

Muzeman, for what it's worth, I can think of about 5 other songs called Walk On too. The latest is by U2. I haven't had problems in the past with repetitive titles with my publisher or BMI. Sometimes you just have to submit music and lyrics with the paperwork.

Thanks alot,
H2H

Nice song. I'm listening on computer speakers, but the mix seems to have a transistor radio quality to it that actually fits quite well. I like the guitar work also. Good stuff H2H.

H2H...

In your melodies, you seem to choose the notes that Paul Simon would... nuff said ;)

Very interesting production; the vocal track has "That Sound" to it... is this an analogue deal, or Alsihad? Just a good mic/pre combo? Sounds like that mic really, REALLY fits your vocals well.

You know what would kick ass? Opening up the mix around 2:30... get that high end in there... jump in with real drums, cymbals... just for the outro... As is, it's cool too. Definite show of talent here.

Your guitar playing is somewhat reminiscent of another clinic master... Jeff Marcomb... a high compliment (I'm saying that because of the guitar in the very, very intro part...)

IMO all you have to do is get some more highs in there... just in the outro, even... find some type of sound that fits the tune... and end with it... open it up for a few bars (okay... done harping on that :D)

Kewl.

Man I'm hearing some good stuff lately. :) Very good work, especially Fly.
Walk On is great too...........good vocals no matter what you say. The cheesy drums actually sort of fit but after about 20 seconds I hate them.......sorry. I guess the rest of the song's so good, it just doesn't match up well. Good song though....and a very good performance.
