I make all my beats on fl6 and i'm kinda gettin tired of the software scene and am lookin at hardware but i don't wanna waste my money on somethin and then get it and find out it's not wut i want u know? so basically the question is what do i need to buy in order to make beats via hardware instead of software?

You can get a number of things.
Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif, Roland Fantom to name a few. All those come in rack units as well as workstations. Or you can probably find an ASR-10 pretty cheap. There are so many choices though, not just these. Do some research and see if that helps you get closer to a decision.

I was lookin at the korg d3200 and the tascam dp01-fx. Can i make beats from scratch on these types of machines or am i way outta tha ballpark? and if anyone has ever messed around with either of these lemme know how they are

Man those are trackrecorders. You should look into something like an Akai MPC or either just stick with software and use controllers with your gear. Such as an trigger finger, mpd24, ect...

lol oops my bad. i'll tell u wut i'mma cop that roland fantom-x6 cuz i seen a video on it and thas wut i'm lookin for anyone got 1 of those? wuts better it's a toss up between that and the motif by yamaha

I use the Fantom-S, the model before they released the X. I love it, it's in the same league as the Motifs and Tritons. I love the mpc style pads, they're not as good as the mpc's pads but they work well. If your gonna get a Fantom-X stay away from the 61 key X if your looking for all 16 pads. You can probably find a used Fantom S on ebay for around 1k or a little under.

Also I'd skip out on an mpc, you can do the same thing with ur software that the mpc does. A lot of ppl think they're the all around production answer. But it all depends what your looking for. Really if your comfortable with software, you should stick with it.

Just be ready for the huge learning curve that comes with swapping methods. Most people aren't and don't do their homework and wind up wasting thousands while they learn.

Recommend u go test it if possible. Looks can be deceiving. When u watch those vids especially the company videos they are goin to make it look so easy but it looks like that cause they have cut out so much of the video to make it look like its easy to get on it and go. But remember its not the gear that will determine how your beats sound its what u put in that will come out. Just cause u get an Fantom, MPC, Motif, ect doesnt mean u will be creating beats. It takes time, effort, and some basic skills. U might want to experiment a lil more and make sure music is your things. Millions of dollars get wasted due to people who dont research properly. Im here to help ya.

You're gonna piss alot of people off with that statement.........Although I agree with the latter statement that, that people think it is the "Answer"..... Do whatever works for you and accomplishes what you're trying to do!
But an MPC setup would be nice! :D:D:D:D

LOL... if they get pissed, they get pissed :D it's JMO. I never was big on the MPC's

I been researching hardware for a while now and I just really didn't know everything that a multitrack recorder could do. I mean I know it's purpose but i didn't know if you could create beats right on it, and the reason that is, is becuz the korg d3200 description talks about making drums right on it so i thought maybe that would be the way to go but i'm deff. going to get the fantom x6 now. prolly take me 2 months to save up for that one though. I really wanna get into hardware now cuz just by wut people say and wtachin some videos i see how much more fun and creative you can be. I think software is getting boring to me now i need a change and i think hardware is the route i must take. Is ebay a good spot to buy this kind of equipment from cuz i ain't tryin to get ripped and if thas the case i would rather just buy it new u know?

I've never had a problem on ebay buying anything. but I do make it a rule not to spend more than a couple hundred dollars at most just incase the item is really broken or not as advertised. I'd hate to be fighting for a couple grand, that'll suck. Just research your seller.

True dat!
I had one bad experience on Ebay, I bought a MPC200xl used for $700. When it arrived, the lcd screen was blurred. I did some research and found that it was not uncommon. I contacted the seller to see what was up, because they didnt disclose that in the description. We went back and forth and all they could say was sorry and they would pay for half of the cost. (Yeah, okay!!!!) I made a complaint through paypal and the arbitrated the dispute. To find that I was correct, thanks to the other party being honest. But the only thing they could guarentee me was that the other party's account would be frozen until they paid $700 back. I had to get an estimate from Daddys Music as to the damage and ship it back to the party. Thank God, ebay was their bread and butter as far as income and they sent me a refund. But other than that, every other experience was cool!

I like that x-6 61 key board looks real nice and i was thinkin about coppin that and then coppin the motif sound module so that was i would have all the motif sounds too and i can just play em on that board. so mental y is it that u want me to stay away from the 61? it's at 1995.00 in price right now and the cheapest i saw on e-bay was like a couple hundred cheaper so it's better i think to get it fresh outta the box u know?

i'm not comfortable with software it's really all i could afford at the time so i learned how to use it as good as i could and i'm pretty much sick of the software scene. i wanna make my beats hands on i'm sick of using my mouse to tweak knobs i wanna do it wit components right in front of me u know?
