not sure how reliable, but link

you do have a mixer, right? or were you just using the headphone outputs to mix down with?

if you don't have a mixer, this looks like a very good deal.

Actually,

given that auction that you posted;

I think you might be able to sell your 5050 condition: 'bad relays' and still get more for it than you paid. and then buy a 38.

hey thanks for the advice, I've always thought of getting a 388, but I'm actaully replacing the relays myself. I've bought record relays that are in the mail now hopefully, and I got some others that just came today for FF REW and PLAY funtions. I'll most likely swap those too, just to be in the best shape possible when it comes to relays. And I think I'll replace the filter caps too, those things can dry out after a while.

If that doesn't solve my problem then I may get another machine, I doubt I'd ever sell m 5050 though.

Me thinks you have a bone to pick with me.

I'm not quite sure why but OK; have fun. ;)

I could give a shit either way. :rolleyes:

Cheers! :)

No bone. BTW, why doesn't bone rhyme with done? That's what my seven year old nephew asked me! All I'm saying is ebay is all about feedback, you can't screw sellers for long if that's your aim and it's highly improbable that a seller with over 1500 positive feedbacks is out to screw people, it's common sense. He may in fact be, like someone suggested, an idiot, he may be a few cards short of a full deck, but calling him a crook is just plain silly. He posted something for sale, he's not forcing anyone to buy it, it's an auction and buyers are best served to do their homework and ask questions. I ask questions all the time, never do I bid on an item without first exchanging emails with a seller and getting all the info I can. The only way he'd be a crook is if took the buyers money and never shipped the item or if the info he provided in the auction and via emails to the buyer was bogus. You can bash the guy, it's a free country, but you don't know him, you didn't ask him any questions, you haven't tried to figure out what's going on, you simply call him a crook and his feedback tells a completely different story.

Take a look at the additional photo of this same (above mentioned) Otari auction. The seller revised and indicated that the "motor is warped". Further proof this recorder was dropped and not only damaged on the outside but inside. That's exactly what happened to a TEAC I bought a couple of years back, that had outside and inside damage (from bad packing) which included the whole face plate being caved in and motors loose from all the drops. What was it packed in you ask ? Bubble wrap!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

The base metal chassis is broken in (at least) 2 places.

What'd I say?
Junker!....... :eek:
