To my ears, in reference to years of listening to shredder stuff like James Murphy, Satch, and Vai, this is good shredder recording work. Except for the clean guitar in the slower one. That sounded thin and brittle IMO. Also the drums would benefit greatly by coming up in the mix. I know the solo's are the focus here, but the rythms could come up a bit as well and be thickened up a bit..... :D

Bravo! I was really hoping that I wouldn't be disappointed after seeing the word "shredder" in the title, and I'm not! That was great!
All the guitars sound good to me, especially the lead guitars. I don't like the clean sound in the slow song. Pretty much just like Zed said in his post, it's kinda thin and brittle and seems to fight the sound of the lead guitar rather than compliment it.
I would like to hear alot more groove to the drums in the first song, the really straight hat through most of the song takes away from the groove potential as it is otherwise an awesome song. Also you can't hear the kick much and it seems pretty weak, I would at the very least bring the kick up and beef it up with some eq maybe. Great playing on every track. Cool to see some shred stuff around here!

Definitely gives me some Satriani vibe. He rocks, so that's cool! Love the wah at 2:24, awesome solo man! Sounds good! The second song is cool. Seems slightly too bright to me, maybe you could add a little more body to the clean guitar or a heavier bass guitar. Otherwise, very very impressive playing! The heavy piece is wild in a good way. Awesome playing, but I agree that the overall sound would probably sound better if thickened some.

I appreciate the feedback so far... I am going to remix the drums and post the comparison tracks tonight. As for the thin guitar sound on the second peice. This was an experiment of sorts that has seemed to back-fire. :D The initial intent was to simulate a pedal steel using a guitar... but it is too obvious that it is a guitar... and doesn't seem to be obvious what it was trying to simulate.

That particular rythem track was not recorded using an amp... it was recorded direct line as (once again) an experiment in recording techniques.

Since most of this material is recorded on the fly... I'll have to go re-learn the rythem track to re-record it. But, sounds like it would be worth the effort.

Again, I appreciate the feedback and I'll post the remix on the drums later today or tonight.

I listened to the heavier piece...#3. Very cool. Reminds me of Vinnie Moore, or Tony Macalpine. Very good playing, and it sounds great.

I'm now listening to your last posted song, the remix...
Dude, I like this. has a great feel to it. Nice tone, and everything meshes together very well. Somewhat like Satriani, somewhat like Johnson.....Has a different sound. many influences blended very well. You got some good tones to fit the chops. Well done.
