Some questions about the Guillemot ISIS system...

OK; since the Isis system inputs are line level, I would need a preamp for mics. If I get a mixer, and put the mics in it, and then connect the mixer to the Isis, can I record each mic to it's own track on n-Track? How do I connect the mixer to the Isis? Do most mixers have outputs for each channel?

I'm sorry if I ask too much dumb questions but I really want to know how this stuff works.

Thanks.

Depends on the mixer. Really inexpensive mixers often don't have direct outs for each channel, but stereo outs or maybe stereo outs plus an auxiliary pair. Mixers that are fairly full featured start at around $500. I personally have a cheap Behringer mixer that has four mic pres but it does not have channel outputs; but I typically only use one mic at a time since I'm playing everything by myself.

How many inputs does the Isis have? That's how many mics you can record, each to its own channel, at one pass.

the isis has 8 inputs... So what you're saying is: if I get a cheap behringer mixer, I can't record each mic to it's own track?
