Hi Everyone,

I've been doing a little bit of recording at my house, and I wanted to ask a few general questions about mic selection for certain instruments....what I currently have are 3 SM-57s, a Shure KSM32, and a Nady SCM900. The instruments I'd like info on (mainly because I haven't had the chance to really experiment with them) are:

Trumpet
Alto Sax
Cello
Recorder
Flute
tambourine (actually, I should clarify by saying that I would like to mic the skin of the tambourine itself)
floor tom (with the intention of devising a sort of poor man's tympani sound)
dreadnought acoustic and nylon-string classical guitars

Any advice would be appreciated (and thanks in advance)

I'd put the ksm on the most important track, the 57's on everything else, and the Nady in the garbage. :D

I think the Nady will sound good on both acoustic guitars--maybe on cello. Mic placement will be important. I don't know that I'd put the ksm near the bell of the trumpet or sax.
