King of Bling
My daughter and I played a coffeehouse in Fort Worth this weekend. (Yes, there are coffee houses in Fort Worth, lol). Anyway, if anybody's bored, the song links are in the middle of the page under "Live Tunes." They were recorded right off the board with no room mic, so we're missing some "ambience," lol.

I usually post asking for mix advice, but these tracks are out of my hands now, so I can't do anything about them. Any advice on future recordings would be appreciated.

They're here: http://www.betteroffdad.com/mp3.htm

I was curious to hear if your daughter could sing live(my first post was in awe of her sound). I can hear quite clearly that she can. Have you had any interest from record companies yet?

Your Daughter is super and Chris I have listened to your stuff also and enjoyed it just as well, you have a great voice too.

Thanks for sharing
Eddie

well keep hammering them with your stuff coz there's no reason one of them shouldn't snap you up.

Wow. She sounds just as good live.

Fuck, dude. Your daughter leaves me in awe. I'm not saying you aren't bad either.. you're both rock solid. Good work, man. I'm glad to see someone can actually perform still. :D

Geezus!! She can sing! You gotta be proud. For coming off the board that sounds pretty good.

It's a shame when people this talented have to play coffee shops and losers like Ashlee get SNL and the Orange Bowl.

Very awesome Chris.

Thanks TR, HD, PTU, staven, and geet. These years are finite, and I like sharing my big huge inflated PROUD PAPA experience whenever possible. I'll get over it, (and she'll graduate from H.S. some day, lol)...but it's been a lot of fun.

She came in last night with a new one that we tracked; it's for like a singing book report thing for school, called "Great Expectations" that's on our mp3 page now - one vocal, one guitar - I'm TOTALLY stealing it from her, lol. I couldn't start a new thread for it, but if anybody's keeping track, that'd be THIRTEEN NEW RECORDINGS IN 4 DAYS, WOOO HOOO...lol.

Be well,
Chris

I am new to the forum. And I have just listened to both "Live" and the studio mixes. One word...WOW. Any A&R people worth their American Express cards should be signing that voice.

Just one old guys opinion.

:D

You know it isn't my style or anything, but I still like it. Keep it up.

woah.... how did i miss this stuff for so long? I have listened to the live version of green eyes.... phenomenal. It has that awsome live feel to it, ye know the sound that a live mic does to people's voices? i love it.

If you ever put out an indie CD i would buy one.

be sure to grab my attention when you guys put some more stuff up to listen to?

nice job chirs

sorry, didn't notice the CD you have for sale. I may be emailing you about getting one soon.

lol...thanks man. I usually don't sell them to people who are nice enough to comment on mixes; the CD wouldn't exist if it weren't for people who lend their ears in here and elsewhere. If you really want one, just PM me your mailing address. Thanks for the listen.

Aussie - First, Aussie - welcome man. thanks a lot for that comment, as it kinda' made my day.

bazzled - you're a trooper for listening to this stuff, lol...thanks a lot man.

hey Chris, did you redo all of the music for the evanescence cover that is up on your site? if so, good job. Is that you doing the male voices? that would be funny

hahaha...yes, it is me, and yes, it is funny. We actually play that one live (acoustically), and it's a lot funnier when I try to pull it off live...maybe it's just sad, lol.

As far as the music bed...no - she downloaded it off the net for that contest; I did augment a bit by adding a couple of guitars, but I can't take credit for the rest of the track...well, except for the comical male voice stuff, heh.

I havn't been around here much but I felt like listening to some different music and I found this. Man can that girl sing!
I personally think the live version of "time to leave" is her best performance showing so much emotion. I have been listening to that song over and over. I just can't get it out of my head.
I hope to hear some more soon.

Chris,
I go to ACU (pre-law!!) in abilene, and I am blown away by your performance. I would love to come up sometime and see you guys live. Hopefully I can get there this month. If you need another guitar or a slide for your performances let me know...I would be honered

Now how old is your daughter :)
Don't even go there, LOL. But she's 14. :D : Thanks a lot for listening.

tremblayj - Man, repeated listens are kinda' what it's all supposed to be about...that's a goal, and your comment made both of us feel great. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

Bigsnake - THANKS. My wife's from Abilene. DON'T GO TO LAW SCHOOL!!!! Nah, I'm kidding...great profession. Best of luck with that. It would be extremely cool if you could make it out to a show. Our current dates (all 2 of them) are 1/21 and 1/22 at Panther City Coffee Co. in Fort Worth, but I just got confirmation yesterday that we've been booked to play a bunch of the Borders stores in DFW over the next 6 months, so check back to the website for updated dates if you think you might be able to come out and jam. Last week, we had Harvey Gerst come out and play bass, which was very cool and a ton of fun. Thanks for listening man.
