Hi,
I am a new user to this site, and it looks like much help is givin on these boards when it is needed, and I would love ANY suggestions right about now, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I am a senior in high school, graduating in June, and I plan on going to college for music recording and editing and all that good stuff. I plan on building a full on studio of my own while I am in college so that when im done with the classes, i will have a lot of the equipment already.

I would like to know what would be some good things to start off with, equipment and software wise. as of now, i have a AMD Athlon 1ghz processor, 512 MB computer, with a standard sound card. And for software i have Cool Edit Pro 2. That is all. I plan on getting an Apple G4 for music use only, so, as far as other equipment/software goes, thats where you guys come in. Any help is much appreciated, I plan on making this my career, so please help me get started in any ways you can! Thank you so much.

I would also advise you to invest more in equipment that will appreciate over time, like high-end mics and older tube pres.

Also, you should consider studying electrical engineering and building some of your own stuff. This will get you gear cheap, while teaching you a great deal about electronics and sound...

Good luck! Where are you thinking of studying?

You will need to learn ProTools by DigiDesign, if you are going to be an engineer/producer in the recording industry.

Awesome, thanks so much guys. And to answer your question Todzilla, im going to GoldenWest College for 2 years taking the basic courses on it, and then im going to a college in Los Angeles that specializes in it, but I forget what the name of the college in LA. I basically wanna just start my own little studio and help out local bands for awhile while im at the LA college, and then just see what happens from there. Thanks again so much guys, i really appreciate it.
