Okay, i have only recently gotten into home recording, i own a yamaha mw-10. I have a shitty pro amp, and recording distortion from the line out, sounds like a piece of shit. The amp sounds fine in my room and everything, when i record it onto cubase its like pure crackle, i have tried a few things. I was thinking a mic, but then again i want to be able to record in my room at night time so a mic aswell as another solution. Would something like this https://www.billyhydemusic.com.au/shop/index.cfm?action=view&id=291 help the sound?

Sorry , i know i am a dead shit but you gotta start somewhere.

What the fuck is a microhone? He did talk about possibly using a mic? Is that what you're refering to?

You never heard of a microhone?

It's kind of like a hotograph.

Or a honograph.

.

There's no reason to be mean to noobs. If everybody knew everything... nevermind, I don't even need to explain myself.

Honestly, I'm pretty new to recording myself. and I spent all my money on my Hard-Disk recorder, and monitors, and had no money left over for mics initially. I was trying to line out from two different amps... both sounded really good in the room, but it sounded like total balls once recorded. I had to radically scoop the EQ in several ways to make it sound even kind of decent. I had to bring the highs down, tune the mids, and bring the lows up... I also had to use less distortion than sounded good to my ears when playing. Then the whole thing just didn't have the volume I was looking for without really upping the gain.

Long story short, I switched to just using a shure SM57 right on the speaker and sounded way better. Left the amp sounding the way I wanted it, and the tone coming through on my recordings was pretty good with only minor post-tracking processing.

Shutup, noob!

You have 10 more months before you can instruct us on board etiquette.

You see, I could jump in and say something like fuck you old man, oh and tell your old lady I'll be a little bit later than usual tonight..... or I could just ignore your childish antics and move on with my day. I'll choose the latter.

what he needs is a marshall stack with a usb out... no wait they havent made it yet

can i patent that?

I think it's generally accepted that recording from the line out of guitar amps always sounds pretty shitty because the high end roll off of the speaker has a lot of effect on the overall tone.

DI works for bass but it leaves a lot to be desired for guitar. Mic the amp, this is the best way to record the sound and tone you are used to hearing.
