Hi everyone- have some stuff on four track and I would like to get it mixed into mp3 as efficiently as possible. Is there a way to hook my four track directly to my computer and mix directly into an mp3 format? What hardware/software/cables, etc. do I need to make this happen?

the short list

1 4 track to computer requires a sound card which can input 4 tracks. Or two tacks or mixed .....depends on how much you want to spend.

2. your comupter has a sound recorder built right into windows. You can record your mix into a windows .wav file.

3. download music match jukebox and convert your file to mp3.

4. Burn to CDR or record output of computer from soundcard out put.

It may take a while to sort out what this means but the help files should give you enough to get started. Read the fact/tutorials on this sight for more info.

In effect if your PC if it's been built in the last 5 years will probably be capable of making finished mp3 with a mininum of hardware.
You buy a decent soundcard and you can put away the 4 track for good.

Good Luck.

i'm assuming this is cassette.........if you have four good tracks then you want to dump them to PC for mixing......don't mix on the four track.....you can dump four tracks onto a PC with a two input soundcard, but it can get messy.
