i've seen several people talk about SP2's ,
but what are they? what brand?

anyone got a link or some more infO?

Peavey SP-2. 15" woofer w/horn and diaphragm tweeter. There are about 375,000,000 of them in the world. They have been making them for a long time. They continually get lighter and better. Good deals can probably be had on the last series, before the newest line came out. They made the last series for at least 6-7 years, with only slight mods each year.

and how would you compare those sp2's with

Electro voice sxa360
12" woofer, 350watt amp for the sub, and 150 wat rms amp for the tweets

its more expensive, and i heard some nice things about them,
or maybe they're a pricerange higher.... i'm not well informed,

Here are the US prices:

SP-2 $475 Handle a good amount of power, a good box for the money.
SXa360 $1100 no amp needed, probably sounds nice- EV usually does. Only a 12", though, not gonna get as much low-end. I have heard good things about the 250. 15", but less power.

Definitely a step up in price.

You are in the UK? Check out FBT Maxx and KV2. Very nice self-powered boxes. Also look at the Yorkville EF500P. The Yorkie and the FBT will be somewhere between the SP2 and the EV in terms of price. Both will be nicer, too, I bet.
KV2 More in the price of the EV, but nicer.
