Hello, I'm obviously new to PC recording but I had a couple questions.
My friend recently hooked me up with some recording software (Cubase VST 32, Vegas Pro Version 1.0, Cool Edit Pro) I essentially want to record the best quality, maybe even a demo, of guitar, vocals, bass, keyboards in my room.
Keeping in my mind that I'm not familiar with recording, any suggestions on the best program to use with learning curve that would be responible for a newbie?
I've heard that Cool Edit Pro is a very easy program to learn but how does it compare to Cubase etc. as far as getting CD quality or whatever?

The sound quality depends more on

a) Your soundcard - A/D/A converters

b) Your equipment - microphones, preamps, etc.

c) YOU - your ears, your skills


Cubase is a very good program. Stick to it.

It depends if you will be learning MIDI or WAV. recording.

I would suggest that you learn on the Vegas Program, because it has an easier learning curve. And, you will be better acquainted with Sonic Foundry products once you PURCHASE a newer version of the program.

Ntrack is a pretty easy program to learn and cheap too! but it has most of the same features the more expenisive programs have... im still confused about cubase and i've fooled with it for almost 2 years:)
