:D Yo Rondo:

I suggest you give a listen to the Boss 880 drum machine--it is marvelous and has about 500 pre sets; in addition, you can program your own beats if you want.

The patches are very good. [I usually run my drums through a pre-amp to give them more punch.]

I don't use a PC platform; thus, I'm just giving you a comment based on how I record my own stuff, via a synth.

Life in the Colonies is still good when we don't listen to CNN.

Forgot to mention that the Boss 880 Drum Box also has a bass line built into the patches.

You can use the bass line; or, if you don't like the key, you can change the key; or, you can turn off the bass line and do your own; or, you can plug a bass right into the drum box and run it through to a track. It's an amazing little box.

Cheers and have a Laphroig neat on me!

EZDrummer. Very good price and amazing/realistic sounds. They also have expansion kits if you need a drumkit for a different genre of music. Can't go wrong with EZ.

I'm a fan of Battery 3 from NI, but some people give it mixed reviews. It's used for a lot more than just basic drum sounds so it may be more than you're looking for. EZDrummer gets a lot of positive reviews on this board.
