i know that software fx process your signal after its been recorded, not durring. do dsp/hardware accelerated fx process the signal as its being recorded. ie, can i hear the effect while im recording?

'Tis possible depending on your setup. If you have extra ins and outs that you can route around, you can use an outboard FX processor to give you reverb or whatever in your headphones. If you have to use computer DSP of some sort, there will be latency from when you make a sound to when it goes through the DSP and back to your headphones. Depends on your soundcard capabilities, computer speed and stability, etc. as to how short the latency can be. It can be as short as 3 milliseconds, which is pretty much undetectible.
