Not sure if this is the correct forum. Hope I'm not intruding.
Does anyone have any idea if there is any software out there - perhaps a plug in that will give the effect that a voice has been recorded using a condenser mic. Perhaps a filter or something?

Antares Mic Modeler, you can pretty much model any condensor you like. Personally I don't think it can do anything one can't do with a little eq work, but it can be great for a quick fix situation.

i dont know if this will help you but the free vst plug in SIR
uses impulses. go to noisevault.com. and check out the forum.
apparently there are impulses for various popular mic preamps.
might be something for microphones as well. SIR is quite an interesting
software technology due to its flexibility.
irrespective - it might give you some new approaches as well to think of.
hope this helps.

I would not hold out much hope for the results. One of the main characteristics of a condenser mic is its detail and software can't add detail that wasn't there in the original

Antares mic modeler claims to do this, but its a sham. MM can be an intersting EQ effect, but you can not model how a mic will respond to proximity effect, off axis coloration, distortion/SPL relationships, variences in polar patterns (rejection) and you can not invent frequencies that were never recorded on the first mic to give it the spectral characteristics of a mic that would actually capture those frequencies without massive phase distortion. I am surprised that Antares was not laughed out of business for making these claims. But its a strange world. People will pull up a dual recifier sound on a pod and think its sounds something like a dual rectifier, so I guess anythiing is possible.

soft-ware, soft-synth, soft-condensors -- where is it ever gonna stop?? I wonder when I can drive my first new soft-car! :D :D

Sure you can!!! Of course, at that point they are called artifacts ;)

Yes, I know, I took that quote entirely out of context...
