I like this mix just fine (considering my listening medium = earbuds)

I like the prominence of the bass guitar, in this although it might be considered a bit hot for some.

Rest of mix is still good by me....

It would be good if Big Bubba could listen to this and advise if it sounds better since the last mix bass-wise.

Think this is darn close to being done......

Sounds cool. On my system the bass was coming across too loud and drowning out other things. This is the home theater system so if it makes me get up to turn the lower EQ settings lower or play with the remote, it's probably going to lose it's appeal as a good listen. That's why I was talking about loud bass. :)

Also the Sax sounds cooler with the rhythm slightly lowered. 'Coz it allows the Sax to shine thru as the main instrument with the others playing accompaniment lines. :)

It's a reference to the committee that sat to design the horse but, through democratic processes, compromise, error, time delays, culture, needs and logic came up with the camel. (a horse for a different course?)

My contention is that the camel isn't a horse but is wonderful nevertheless & that the derogatory stab at "committee process" that is embodied in the story ignores the good that many minds, perspectives & tastes can bring to a common cause.

In the instances of the Camel Committee it's the offerings of other with regard to the mixing of my songs.

The only differences between my thread and any other is that I don't bring a particularly fixed position to the mix & I actually follow the consensus, if not each individual opinion, regarding processes & results.

I put up new threads of versions & revisions at differing stages demonstrating the results of suggestions and invite further comment.

To date the results have been great. Some of the mixes don't match my personal taste - (for example I love a submerged vocal so that I have to decipher a lyric but I've found that this is not at all a common liking) - but I'm not mixing for me. I'm mixing to address the tastes of people interested in making music. I'm not chasing a pop audience or radio listeners, (both of which would be nice but I'm a realist), but am seeking a response to, & some degree of validation for, my efforts.

There you have it, The Camel Committee:
No perm members;
A few regulars;
Blow ins galore;
Interest
&
constructive comments are the only prerequistes for membership.

Nice riffing here, song rocks. The bass tone sounds good, but it's too loud on my system. It's rattling the speakers and it's a bit distracting. I know I don't have the best system, but it doesn't usually do that.
Vox sound great. Sax solos sound great.
Cool song and groove... my only recommendation is turn down the bass a few dB and it'd be set in my ears. Cheers :)
 
Hey dude, this is coming along nicely.

If I was sitting at a restaurant or at a pub and this song came on, I would enjoy the tune and probably consider it a good dance number.

I don't dance but that's not a requirement to saying some songs are dance numbers. :)

So now that I personally think your bass level matches many of the prominent bands (esp. The Benjamin Gate [that I was listening to]), I noticed the drums were missing.... almost.

I would recommend raising the snare a little. And all cymbals, hats, rides can be brought up. Also if possible EQ more air into these. All hats except for the Crash. That crash can stay where it is. EQ the cymbals, hats, rides in the high range between 5kHz-10kHz by about 3-5db and trust me you'll notice the difference. Listen to the old and new after doing that and then choose. You might still pick the older one.

Oh the lead guitar from 2:02 - 2:16 sounds cool. But sounds to be the same as the rhythm guitar. So maybe EQ it somewhere in a different range to make it different. And trust me you can raise it and a listener like me will enjoy it. :)

I am not getting generous with the ideas. I'm just saying things that I notice especially when I alternate between a homerecording and a record label track. These thing I try to work out in my tracks and I hope (everytime) that people will criticize all my tracks until they sound production level. :)

I'll play around with it again & post the results. The changes are slowly but surely making improvements.
I burned a wave of the track to CD & played it in a marantz through a NAD & into Bose & it seemed fine. BUT I am a bass player so fine to me is probably WAY to bottom ended. Wait until you hear another of my tracks that BASS Based.

I've pulled the bass back a little more & cut some bottom end from the bass drum as I'd already done this to the bass - it was the only earth rumbling bit left. The snare is up with a tweak on its reverb and the ride is up also.
I tried tweaking the guitar solo but it was, essentially, the recorded sound of the guitar overdriven through a pignose. I EQ all over the place & in the end added a chuck of mids & scooped out some upper mids - it sounds different to before at least.
