Any rumors on what they are gonna do. I know about the EQ but don't they already have a bunch of good EQ's already (Pultec).

I am gonna grab the Flexi pak and I am a little hesitant, should I sit on my allowance?

Probably a compresser & eq I don't think there is a such thing as a plugin preamp yet... :p

Thing is we don't know the release date for the Neve product could be next month could be next year.

I wouldn't be hesistant about the plugs though they are awesome even without the Neve ones.

They do have the Pultec, which is a great software EQ, but it really isn't tailored for "channel strip" use. I woudn't be surprised to see them come out with some sort of "preamp" plugin. Being software though it wouldn't really be a preamp, but more of a tonal emulation. Maybe something similar to Ruperts new tape saturator.

Has anyone heard when they are going to start releasing the Neve plugs? I have wanted to get a UAD rig for a while, but I'd rather wait if it's going to be soon.

I've been using this plug in over the last few weeks and it is pretty amazing however it is not a preamp emulation but an EQ one. It has an analog, glue factor if you will; adds a lot of fattness to kick and snare. Also is nice on guitars and vocals for an added edgy smoothness. Best I can describe it. It is a very unique sounding EQ, different than most others you find on the market and is a great addition to the arsenal.

The Pultec is very warm and full and adds mid to low end push but it is tube/ slightly mushy sounding - good mushy not bad. Necessary on thin sounding tracks.

The 1073 is very more detailed, very detailed in fact and adds a more clear sounding emphasis on the low end. It is also more detailed in the midrange to high end but also adding sonic coherence. It comes close to sounding analog but not tube analog more large transformer sounding. It fattens a snare the way you want it to fatten in the 200-400 range without getting overly thick in other adjoining ranges.

The high end gets very sizzly, good sizzly on overheads and gives it a nice transformer type of gel.

The problem overall with the 1073 is that you want to put it on every track to make things sound like an analog board and you quickly run out of DSP.

I would use the Pultec on say a piano or kick to fatten up a thin sound. The 1073 would not fatten things quite as much and would give things a more edge/detailed sound.

That's the best I can describe it.

The pultec pro emulates a tube EQ while the Neve 1073 does not.

This gives these two Eqs very different qualities and usages.
Still they both sound great as does most of the UA stuff.
