I was wondering if i could get some help as to what else i need to record my band. At the moment i have

-BEHRINGER XENYX 1202FX

-RODE NT1a

And thats it haha, What else do i need, i really have no idea what else i need to get started, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ash.

A cable and a stand would be a good start . . . and maybe some headphones . . . and some type of recording device . . .

Haha, i probably should have mentioned all that, i have mic stands, headphones, cables all that sort of stuff. I need to know how i can record to my computer with the XENYX 1202FX, I was reading somewhere that i need a soundcard?? Could anyone give me some info on what that is.

Yes:
You actually need an audio interface or a stand alone recorder.
The mixer is good for monitoring as you record but not really for recording itself unless you want to premix your drums in it. (Although others will disagree)
Basically, an audio interface (Sound Card) will convert your analog signal to digital and take it into the computer where you can edit on a DAW. (Studio software)

So just say i buy an audio interface, do i connect my mixer to the interface and the interface to my computer?

go for a firewire interface, especialy for drums. the presonus studio is like 400$ open box and can record 8 tracks at the same time with 8 mic preamps. also youll need a drum micing set or enough mics to mic drums, and id reccomend an sm57 for guitar cabs and snare micing.

If you go with a multi channel interface, (Firewire, USB or PCI) you wouldn't need the mixer other than for monitoring while you record.
Unless you need more channels.
So you could go nuts with the drums, mix them the way you want in the mixer and run a L&R channel into your audio interface.
Thus, in an 8 channel interface, you would still have 6 channels left for the other stuff.

Don't forget some monitors. I can't recommend any myself as I have not gotten any as well. Look around here and you'll find everything you'll need.

Monitors - Don't try mixing on headphones. And don't skimp on monitors, get the best you can afford.
