but let's see how this one does...any thoughts or critiques?

Nice.
Sweet simple tones. Intonation is spot on too.

Build on it.

Add some more sections, some bass, a bit of strings maybe. I love the understated keys (bells). Nice touch.

nice! sounds like they'd use on Skins if you've ever seen it....good slow introspective music

needs vocals

I disagree...this a really well played emotional piece. Sounds GREAT.....great dynamics, I keep getting lost in the piece, and it makes me think. I agree with chrisjorge in some light strings and an appropriate ending could make this sound great.

Another thought: The guitar seems a little dry in the tone department...possibly a boost in the mids (300-500 hz) could add some emotion to the guitar? try it and see.

keep it up man, this is the stuff I like to listen to!

yeeeah buddy, thank you for all the replies. It was recorded into Tascam DP-02 with just a pickup on the acoustic (which might explain the dryness of the tone), and a keyboard of course.

I liked the idea of some strings, maybe a cello? Vocals too of course if we could come up with something that doesn't throw the feel off. We've put it aside for a couple of days but I bet we come back to it. I'll bring this stuff up. Thanks again!

There's an unacceptable hiss level. Needs some Izotope RX love...

I don't think you need to bother with vocals, unless you have some in mind....but I would expand on the musical theme.
It sounds like a great prelude to something more to come. Has a somewhat Asian quality to it...nice.

Cool song...I like lyrics, but that's not really a gripe with the mix.

I HATE DI acoustic guitars. Use a mic...any mic and it'll improve the sound 100,000,000 times.

Bells are cool. Hiss is bad, but that may just be from having to crank the volume on the pres to get a DI guitar loud enough.

Overall this sounds either unfinished or like the opening to an album (or movie). With some work on the song writting itself, I think this could go somewhere.
