I use a soundblaster live 24 bit soundcard, with an M-Audio AudioBuddy preamp fed into it, now as a fairly high singing male rnb/pop singer, which mic (of the following) is most likely to give me the best vocals (I have NO need for instrumental recording)....?

SE Electronics SE2200A
AKG C4000 B Condenser Microphone
Rode NT1A Studio Condenser Microphone
CAD GXL3000
RODE NT1000
MARSHALL MXL V67

The one that sounds the best after you compare it to the others.

.

Ok...I'm clearly asking you to presume I don't have access to test them all out before hand!

Obviously I'd want the one that sounds best!

He wants pro sound, but has little money and will not treat his room.

Sorry, but it really doesn't work that way. Each voice is unique and interacts with the mic in different ways. How your voice will interact with the mics you listed would be pure speculation on our part. Any of the mics you mentioned might be great or terrible on your voice.

Among the mics listed, there is no "best" that fits on a rating scale. What's "best" is whichever works "best" - for your voice.

All of them are "good" mics.

Ok, I'll bite........

I'll stick my neck out and say I think either the SE or the Rode (1000) will sound best. Those two are most likely to be better than the others in your list, given the limited info you provided..... and those two seem to get more positive reviews than the others.... I've been tempted several times lately to try the SE mics...

Haven't had anyone sound bad with a Shure sm7, not usually the best, but never bad, always in contention

If you are describing your voice accurately (big if, judging from history), I'd lean towards something that isn't overly bright. A ribbon would be worth a try, IMHO.

Well, we know that any one of them could have a 1 in 6 chance of sounding the best, right?

So maybe you grab a 6-sided die, and assign a numeric value to each of the mics on your list. 1 = SE, 2 = AKG, and so on.

.

Why megaphone? I'm lost...

With regards the actual selection, I guess I was just asking which is the best value for money, and which (if any) are overrated or a ripoff. From the advice I got elsewhere I'm leaning towards the V67 though.
