I was reading earlier posts about stand alone vs PC recording and i think i have decided to go ahead and buy a Stand alone HD recorder and mix via PC. Maybe even mix with the stand alone and just do some final touches on the PC. I had my eye on a Fostex 4track but i cant remember the model. I already own a PC so the only thing i need is a good software (even a decent one will do) and a HD recorder. Any suggestions on the best way to go. Im not trying to make Professional sounding demos (yet) but just record some songs and rough mixes so when we go to a professional studio, we can let them listen and get the basic ideas including effects, overdubs, etc...

Get in my boat

I have the Fostex FD-4 (which I believe is Fostex's only digital four track).

I too am planning on doing all the prelim stuff on my Fostex and then (here's a dirty word) mastering on my PC.

God help us all.

:D :p
