Alright im trying to start a home studio which is why i am here. duh. well anyway i have a windows me . and im not sure if that is even worth recording on because its an old computer original a 95' then it was upgraded to a 2000. So i would like to know if it is even possible to rrecord on it. and if so, what would be a good software and interface to put to it?

Well your not telling much about that old computer, But here goes. You can record on it. It will be a mojor pain in your ass but you can do it. There will latency problems because the buss speed won't keep up with the input. typical of the older computers. Another problem will be availability of both hardware and software that will run on the slower buss. As cheap as computers are now I would go get a new one. you will loose a lot les hair and sleep because of it.

REAPER will run on 98 and up, but man, if your hardware matches that OS, its going to be a bumpy ride doing more than a few tracks! I second the idea of going for a new one. Im currently on a super el-cheapo Shuttle XPC with a athlon 4400+ in it and running 50+ tracks

Getting a multitrack recorder out of the question? A lot of people, myself included, record on a multitrack recorder, like the Fostex VF-160 or whatever, then mix on the computer. The problem there is your circa 1995 pc might not have usb capability.

Upgrade to a new computer. You'll be glad you did.
