Man, love Sabbath's VOl.4! I like the guitars and bass on this , vocals really cool....especially the "my eyes are blind.." part. The only thing bugging me a little on this is the drums...something about the snare, not sure what but it seems to be a little to up front or something...just my own taste , love the dont cha think I know what Im doing part! Good job overall, enjoyed the listen!
I like it. The bass is great, the vocal is great (but bring it up in the bridge - it's drowning in there - it's too low during some of the verses, too). I think what queepy's hearing on the snare is lack of forwardness because of how much delay is on it.
During the rhythm change section, there's a lot of extra goofy sound on the right. What is it? Oh hang on...got it. It's toms. What are they doing over there on the right? Bring 'em back in toward the center. And how come the sound is so off the beat?
I think everything sounded pretty good man. Guitar sounds great too. Great job NTB on the vocals. My only criticism is that it sounds like the vocals are missing some mid-high and it sounds just a little muffled compared to the rest of the mix. Everything is easily heard and understood, just seems to be a "little more bright" lol
Very nice job. There is something about the snare in the verse that is a little distracting like its off time a hair or something. Other than that I think its a good mix and a great job covering a great song.
i played this tune with my jr high rock band,
that and supernaut.
LOL
anyway, great go at this one,
it captures the spirit well....
agree with most all of the mix critiques so far,
good start,
but needs more polish with the mix.
don't worry about trying to cop the original sound,
that was pretty muddy
I'm having a bit of a tough time hearing the kick. Cymbals sound OK, but the crashes are way out on the edges. Sounds weird on headphones. I'd back off on the snare reverb if possible.
Vocal was well sung and sounds good. It's a bit low in the mix. It'd sound better doubled. IMO of course.
I believe to have addressed the issue of the snare timing, the vocal frequencies and the kick.
@TripleM:
I wrote him PM a day or two ago that it would be awesome if he harmonized or doubled the vocal part around the clean guitars. I hope he gets back to me.
I want a louder vocal on that too....and drums. Guitars and bass are definitely leading in this mix.
Lead guitar is pretty wet....which would be fine if you drew back the side rhythm guitars just a little just for that section. The full impact of all that at once gets thick and the lead doesn't shine as well as it could.
Good rock tones throughout. Love the vocal tone when you push it.
Is this the music I sang over? I don't recognize the quick drum rolls that keep happening. I like them, even though I know the drums are as fake as a red-haired Asian-American (a crass old expression updated for the current day). I was as shittanked as an Irishman on payday when I did the vocal (didn't need to update that one), so for all I know, it's the same music.
My singing isn't terrible but it's not good enough to be this prominent, especially when the music sounds this good. I'd lower the vocal a little. I also don't care for the effect. There have to be better effects than that one to use.
