How do you get that sound where you have a tight ringing bright sound with low thud undertones? My best example is kenny wayne shepherd's drummer's snare tone, maybe even a little Alex Van Halen. Pls help, I LOVE THIS TONE!!!!
Get yourself a deeper snare. It allows you to tune it higher but still maintain some low end. I would say a 14x6.5 Brass snare such as a black beauty or if you're on a budget the PDP Ace has a decent sound. I havent played one but I have heard good things about the Black Magic also. The key is depth but not too deep. Any deeper than a 6.5 and you'll start to lose sensitivity. Heads also have alot to do with it.
