Snakes

My church just built a new youth building. We had pipes inserted in the concrete to run from the stage to the sound booth in the back of the room. Our problem is that we can not get either end of the snake to fit through the pipe. Are there snakes made that can detach at the box?

Yes. Either at the stage box side or the fan tail - your decision. They aren't cheap though.

Go digital with a new Behringer X32 and digital stage box. then all you would need to run would be a CAT5 cable.

Depending on the size of a snake you need it could be the same money!

Wouldn't want to wish this on anyone but you could purchase the coupler and cut your snake then rewire - plan on about a week of soldering that together. No thank you. 0_o

Come to think of it ..... the coupler may not fit through the pipe. You may have do it yourself by feeding the bare end, after cutting it, down the pipe and then solder 3X's what ever you have for a total number of channels and sends on the snake ON BOTH SIDES. OUCH 0_o

Why not de-solder and re-solder the stage box end, only:

12 channel = 36 connections
16 channel = 48 connections
24 channel = 72 connections.

However the ends of the cable are already prepared and solder tinned so it wont take that long, a few hours? (Actually maybe only an hour)

Or as Moresound said, go with a digital multicore and you only have to run cat cable.

If you can't get the end through that has the XLR's on it, a multi-pin stage box coupler won't got through.
