need a snake from studio to control room. If I get a 100' snake , will that rob me of sound quality?

It depends if your using balanced or unbalanced lines, and the quality of the wire. What are you using?

Keep it away from your electrical grid. If it has to get close to a cord, do it perpendicularly. Avoid running anything parallel to power line electrical cord hot wire alternating current carrier thingeys. You know what I mean...

Oh, and if you DO run into problems, you may want to put a preamp in the studio (probably a mixer, if you're using a snake).

One more thing. I ended up with a 1/4" snake, 8 channels, for my MD-8. They're color-coded (one of these Hosa products), and I found it was easy to correlate tracks by remembering the colors of the spectrum... ROY G. BIV, and hooking them up in that order. You'll probably label yours and make it permanent (rendering this last tip DUMB DUMB DUMB), but if not, that might help (if it's colored).

Dugra:

I agree with Ametth. Since you are balanced all the way you should be fine.

When using a snake I try to keep everything that sends or receives a signal to my board (instrumens on direct boxes, effects boxes, EQs, amps, etc.) on the same AC circuit breaker. You would not believe how many stray hums and hisses this fixes.

Best Regards...darth87
