Small Mixer

I'm interested in purchasing a small mixer to use in my home recording setup. I may also use it for live performances but it's primary purpose would be in the studio. My budget is maximum $400.00. So far, I've narrowed it to these models:

1. Allen & Heath ZED 14
2. Mackie 1402 VLZ3
3. Soundcraft EPM8

I'm looking for feedback, primarily from folks who have used or still use one or more of these mixers. Thanks in advance!

Do you have the rest of the input chain sorted? Do you already have converters or something to plug mixer outs into?

Are you looking for multichannel discreet recording, or do you just want to record a stereo sum?

I will use a Tascam DP-008 for tracking and then dump the files to computer for further manipulation. As for outboard equipment, I have a Golden Age Project Pre 73 MKII and various mics. As well, I have a Zoom RT 223 drum machine. I would need the ability to do multichannel recording as the Tascam itself can only record 2 tracks simultaneously.
 
Ah ok, I see. So a mixer would replace your current tascam setup?


Unless I've made a mistake, the allen & heath is a usb mixer with 6 mic pres and some stereo ins, so with your pre73, you'd have 8 mic preamps straight into a computer. (Someone confirm?)

The other two are just straight analog mixers, so you'd need to buy converters in order to multitrack record.

That's just based on a quick google. Apologies if I've made any mistakes.
