have a happy 4th dudes! :D (I'm drinkin' a Becks right now)

Man, that's some crazy stuff! Some of the tones you had in that intro remineded me of Forbidden Planet. Good guitar playing as well, like the gloom and doom feel.

Here goes....

Nitzer Ebb... Lightning man... a few timing things (on purpose?) nah... it's the "Beck's" ;)

Sweeeeet!! Large guitars!! Filling! My! Freakin! Head!! :D

Your soloing is getting better. Or is it that psycho pedal-thing you were talking about? Pretty convincing, if so.

When it opens up at 2:18... very nice. Are these drum loops... or are you back to playing those bad boys? If so... damn that's good (the triplets on the toms) (well... good for an electronic kit... the samples are still samples)

What a cool ending. The chords and tensions kind of wash over you. Listening again for any mix comments

(headphones... good ones (HD280)... but still headphones)...

Thinking Phantom of the Opera... or something... kindof a messy intro on purpose? Then it slams you in the face. This really needs your voice.

So far, it's very clean... one of the cleaner I've heard from you. Very identifyable as a "sam". Wow. So far, no real mix comments. Real drums? Ya right... soon as you get a place of your own... and a nice room... understand completely.

Kicks all the right kind of ass.

Hey Sam,

Sounds very good over on this end, man! Some real fine playing and definitely has your signature on it. You have such a distinguished style and there are some great changes in there. The guitars sound excellent. I like the drumming but I wanted them to be fatter...they sounded a little thin to me.

Overall nice job! Would like to hear some vocals on it ... :)

-- Have a good 4th!

well stop stuffing peas up your ass fish pussy.

sam, i liked the guitar solos. :)

very interesting! you made a small symphony - and the drums brings it back to metal.
btw, I don't think that it needs vocals (and I don't mean it don't need yours! :p)

Hmm interesting opening--maybe a bit too chaotic for my taste-not sure what purpose it serves...though I like the section that starts at :28 and thats kind of chaotic too--maybe its the tones used...wow the guitar section really explodes-nice---good soloing-good tone---you ougha patent that sound lol-I know many people probably use the same gear as you-but I can tell its you everytime. I like the drum work during the heavy section-with the triplets-but I don't think they fit as well in the next section that started around 2:20--too machine like too perfect too repetetive IMO. Always interesting and entertaining.

Not crazy about the begining either...but you sure saved it with that geetar and those drums! Great explosive sounds. The high synth in the last section might be a little ear piercing.

I'm gonna put in a full day of yard work, "reward" myself, and check this out again with headphones. I think that's gonna be good.

getting a little bizarre for my tastes.. the gtr sound was nice. I'd enjoy hearing some 'straight up' rok~n~rol from ya too, I'm sure. this seem more like a 'collection' of thoughts to me...

hey Chad, it's definitely the pedals..

I programmed the drums in Fruity Loops, but the sounds are from this http://www.musiciansbuy.com/roland_td-8_percussion_sound_module.htm

One day I'll get back to actually playing them.. It's hard for me to do loud stuff like vocals and drums in my new place.. (even hitting drum pads gets sorta loud because I dont have V-Pads, I have the cheapos.) I'll probably be doing some instrumentals for a little while.. I didn't spend much time programming the drums on this one, but I'm going to start getting more heavily into it.. I may turn this into something bigger.. the next tune will have much more complicated drums.. It really sux having to track with headphones on.. I'm not used to that at all.. Thanks for checking in man.. Good to see your name around again!

werewolf831 - thanks!

boydrj - I wanted the drums to be fat but I guess it didn't turn out that way.. are you listening in lo-fi? :D thanks drj!

phish pussy - :p

WATYF - I doubt you'll like this one but thanks!

erichenryus - appreciate the spin man!

groovejunkie - thanks.. I'm going through an instrumental crisis..

Stratomaster - yes the intro serves no purpose at all.. :D I played that part as I was warming up and *I thought* it sounded cool.. I agree about the outro drums.. I got lazy and really stoned.. The rest is history.. :D thanks Strat!

fprod south -"The high synth in the last section might be a little ear piercing." thanks! I want to see if anyone else mentions it, but I will listen again.. check out Stratomasters response about the intro..

mixmkr - have I ever even recorded a straight up rock tune? :D Yeah it's a collection of thoughts just like most of my stuff.. this one does get a little gray.. It was still fun recording it though.. thanks mix!

thanks again guys.. Have a happy/safe 4th!

Hey Sam,

Actually I just got DSL so I was able to listen in hi-fi. I think that it may be my crappy cheap speakers though...or it may be the conversion to mp3. I've noticed since getting DSL that a lot of stuff I listen to has a lot of mid-range highs and a lot of the drums do sound like tin, so I think it is time for me to upgrade those things.

Anyway ... Talk to you later!

:D

wow..  you were right... :p

Actually... the intro was a little odd... but after that, it was very much "your style". Believe it or not, some of the leads reminded me of Soundgarden from "Super Unknown".

nice squeal on the guitar..........i liked the soloing......the intro before the guitars was a little too random for my taste, but it cut in at the right time i think..........did you play the solo through an amp? nice drums on this one.........

All right!!!! A Sam song......just the thing to blow out my hangover.

!

Yep,,,,,,,cleared the poisen right out! :D

Pretty cool man......I really like the pedals.....I'm gonna have to get some more I guess, I only use 10 right now. I liked the beginning....it would have sucked if that was all there was but once you bring in everything else, then it's just an intro and a 'different' one at that!

Nice, as always.....Happy 4th Sam. :)

I listened and enjoyed it a few listens. That bit that starts at 2.20 is my favorite. That's sublime, that part. Really. You access some very gracious music sometimes. Zappa used to do that too. He'd make all this 'interesting to listen to' stuff that kept you engaged, and then come up with something really beautiful and elegant, like a flower on a cactus.

That organ intro was great, loved that sound., maybe a bit too much verb on the lead guitar for the mix. Great guitar playing.

The keys starting in at around 2:30 in the background were excellent.
