if you're getting the 7b, i can't imagine anyone being disappointed. It's a great mic!

There's always the 7b/re20 debate, but it's really just down to preference.

For me,re-20 doesn't really work on my voice. Sm7b sounds great though!

I'd put a little less emphasis on the pre. It's amazing what you can get away with.

I did all the voice work for my uni project on sm7b and Mbox 2!

It's totally one of those mics where you get carried away and use it for everything for a while! lol.

It pains me that it doesn't work on my voice.

I want to like it; I always try it out, but it never works.

stupid waste of a bargain, but hey! If Kelsey Grammar ever calls round, i'm sorted.

Do you have an Sm7b Henry?

Yup two! one that has never left the studio and one that is on demand to do live stage work.

Do you find the Re 20 sounds a little stronger in the mids? like maybe the sm7b sounds a little scooped?

Maybe i just like the proxy effect and don't realise it.

I like them both for what they are.
Each microphone (even of the same make & model) have a little something different to offer, for no two microphones are alike, but don't let MSH get wind of me saying this or he'll end up going to prison! :D

true that...

what's really important is matching the mic to the preamp! :p:p

I would LOOOVE to get ahold of a re20... but like I said.. Poor 17 year old boy :D

Yep, for sure not disappointed! Its nothing short of amazing!

My infatuation was much like the wicked witch of the west and the ruby slippers! I stopped at nothing. Flying monkeys and all!

Take a look HERE Jim. At both the Golden age pre73 or the Chameleon Labs 7720.
Both are just GREAT stock but they also do mods to them.

Ok. I think I'm ordering the GAP 73. Goin for the gold!! :D

I guess I will just have to head out to Denver to record my Vocal tracks... Or New Hampshire. Man you guys are too far away.
