Can one of the infinitely knowledgeable people in this forum help me?
I am trying to MIDI A cheap Yamaha PSR-170 keyboard to my computer. what I am wanting to do is use the keyboard as A controller for the Native Instruments SM7 synthesizer. I am using Sonar 4 as the host (SM-7 VST). I have the cables connected correctly, as far as I know. The sound card I am using is Soundblaster 5.1 W/ASIO4all drivers, if that helps. Anybody can help It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I've looked at my manual, as well as the Sonar Power book that I have as well, and as far as I know, I have followed the instructions clearly.
Thank you for the links.

when you play the keyboard do the midi indicators flash in sonar?

you'll need to configure sonar for the interface, and set your midi keyboard to OMNI if possible.

If you mean send in omni mode there's no such thing.

If you mean recieve in omni mode, I can't imagine why you would want to do such a thing. It would produce a cacaphony when every midi track in the sequencer is recieved indescriminately by the keyboard.

You don't recommend putting the 'SM7' (sic) in omni mode too, do you?
