i just got a 2nd hand sm58 beta and was reading through some of the past thread for information. I noticed someone saying that the bulb acts as a pop filter, but does that only apply for live singing? In other words do I still need to use a pop filter when recording vocals? And was the mic a good investment?

Good mic, generally don't need a pop filter since its designed for live use. I'll give ya $50 for it. :)
I cant find anything to support it, but I THINK one of the differences between the beta and the regualr 58's and 57's is a 3 micron diaprahgm. Can anyone verify?

All I know is the all BETA's are hypercardioid, and the 58's have less bass response and less proxcimity effect, then 57's.
