can i use it for overheads..i know it might not be the best mic to use but can it get the job done.

Depends. Your talking about drum overheads right?
It will work, the quality won't be great but it will be decent. I used two for overheading my drums and I got a reasonably decent recording. I mean it wasn't incredibly lofi but it wasn't great.

Yes, These are not a first choice, but still workable. I actually did an album for an artist that has won several grammies and we were doing a live album and ran out of mics and used 57 for overheads and the record sounds really good and got great reviews. (unfortunately it was not the album I did that won the grammies ;-(
