sm57 vs. sure drum kit

I am purchasing a drum mic kit. I am wondering weather it would be a smart Idea to either just mic the drums with SM57's orto get the kit, which consists of 1 PG52 bass drum mic and three pg56 drums. If I bought the kit, I would also most likely bye a sm57 for the snare.

the pg4 pack is 250 plus 80 for a 57 and then you'll need 2 overheads for the cymbals which will be another 160 so it adds up to about $500

most of the time you won't need a mic on each tom so,

instead i would go with a 57 on the snare, 2 mxl603's as overheads, and a shure beta 52 on the bass drum. it will give you a better sound. cost about 60 dollars less and you won't need to upgrade it for a while.
