SM57 & SM58: Difference in frequency response curve!

If the singers lips come in direct contact with the capsule in the rare but potentially fatal circumstance that the flux capicator is in a hyperexitable disequilibrium, a deadly discharge can occur. This is more likely to happen if the drummer is playing syncopated rhythms.

Cause they start to pass out and their heads drop onto the mic causing the aforementioned lip contact.

I heard that at NAMM last winter somebody set up a 58 right next to a 57 AND NOBODY COULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE.

Of course the REAL story is that they went through 9,735 57s until they found the ONLY ONE that sounded like a 58. Those kinds of shenanigans go on all the time at trade shows!

Next year I've heard (from sources I cannot disclose) that they're gonna set up a test of the SM58S (that's the one with the switch) and the 58, and then, THEN they're gonna claim those two mics sound EXACTLY THE SAME as well.

Be careful about all those crazy claims you hear about mics out there!

Yeah, I've heard claims that a Neumann U87 sounded JUST LIKE an SM58. Tell ya what, ya gotta be skeptical....
