I plan on buying the Shure SM57-X2U SM57 mic with XLR-TO-USB package. But before I fork over $200, can anyone tell me what my set-up should be for it? I plan on recording guitar, bass, and vocals with it. Still don't have any idea how I'm going to record drums. Here's the link to the package in case no one knows what I'm talking about

You'll probably need a preamp with more clean gain. it looks to me like the usb adapter thing can provide 40db which is nowhere near what you'll need for vocals with this mic. Might be able to get away with it on louder sources like amplified electric guitars and basses but accoustic instruments probably not

beg to differ! "the SM57 remains one of the best selling microphones in the world today." it is used in so many studio's throughout the entire world. the usb thing though. id go out and get your self a better interface for recording into your daw.

The reviews I have seen say that this is a good interface for entry level budget. I haven't used it tho.

drums??

If you're on a tight budget you could get yourself a cheap LDC, plug it into the USB thing and record your drums. I haven't use it, but it seems like it should work.
