so i miced up a mesa standard cab and ran...

http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=2741

its my drummers younger bros "hardcore" band.
i posted up the vamp2 preproduction version a few weeks ago...

https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=186882

i think its a big improvement

the main rythm tone is 5150mkII with a LTD ESP with emgs
and the some of the leadish layers and all the clean tone is Vamp2
done on cubase SX2 and presonus firebox

drums were recorded on SX3 and Tascam 1804

guitars havent been mixed or VST
synth is absynth3 (only coz i just got it hehe)

any comments please? as this is my first attempt at micing up an amp.

I did not listen to your last attempt but your distorted tones must have sucked if this is an improvment.....honest everything else sounds great.....by the way it sounds like you compressed the shit out this stuff......it is pumping like crazy.....

the last attempt was all Vamp2 direct tones...i was impressed with the easiness on dialing up a good tone but however after micing it up i now know why people diss modellers...that said i still believe they have their place.

i havent done any editing of the the guitars and i dont have any experience with compression...im still very new recording.

the file is in mp3...does that mean its compressed???

Listen to the track with headphones & you'll get what is meant by "pumping". It is, usually, an unwanted by product of setting the compressor poorly. Not the MP3 compressor either.
This is really hard to listen to with h'phones sorry.
What I did listen to sounded good within the genre & I esp. liked the keyboard (?) line.
Cheers

ahh i see what you mean. the only thing ive done to the guitars is raise the volumes levels by 3db
there are 4 main tracks...2 panned hard left and right and 2 panned 80 L&R

how do i fix this issue of it "pumping"??

the keyboard line is only 3 notes that i was stuffing around with.
i want to find a more egyptian tomb sounding synth on absynth3 thou

cheers for the feedback :)

Have you limited the final mix....used compression......so were along the line one of these has happened.

When the heavy stuff comes in its alot darker than the initial clean guitar. You might consider trying to brighten up the heavy guitars/drums. Its like someone through a blanket over the mix once everything gets going.
The kick sounds like its clipping on my monitors. The cymbals are getting washed out in places too. The balance is close on some of the stuff but the overall tones/sounds are fighting each other. It sounds like everything has alot of energy in the low mids.
I bet if the drums were a little brighter the guitars would fall into place. Just a guess. If there was bass, I couldn't hear it. Hope this helps

thanks for the feedback.
im considering re-recording some of the Vamp2 layers as some bits(and some other songs i recorded) you can defnitely diffrenciate between 5150 and Vamp2.
there isnt any bass yet...just guitars and drums.
