This ones been driving me nuts, what do the older 57's look like, are they silver with the black top? Like the mic you see Plant use way back when?

Seems like that was the color scheme back in the 70's era...not sure when they changed to charcoal black color~

I Googled it and not ONE pic I could find of that style, I stand awed by your presence oh great one :-)

Actually, the silver one is the predecessor to the sm57. I don't remember the model number off the top of my head. I think it was the Shure Unidyne III.

I think I've got a unidyme III..........................predecessor of the 57....................I'll have to fix the cable :o

Havn't used it since I got it & why..............................the cables bust.........................I could boot myself sometimes

The Unidyne III is a fine little mic - excels on guitar cabs. I gave my last one away a couple months ago to a young local band who couldn't afford a mic for their singer. Had to solder the capsule wiring back together, but it made me feel good to be so goddamn altruistic. Brilliant locking 4-pin connector on them, too.

Yup and the 545 is a sweety too, Very nice of you Phildo

indeed, gentleman of the highest order

in fact I was given mine by a dance band accordian player............years ago...........................it might the mic I've been searching for :)

My church has a really old sm57 and it has a dark copper look to it.
