Hello,
I'm looking for a dynamic mic to add to my collection that will primarily be used for live and studio vocals and occasional micing of guitar or keyboard amps. What I have right now is a Shure SM57 and an Audio Technica AT4047. I've been researching and it seems like the SM7B and the PL20/RE20 fit the bill. Unfortunately I don't have the ability to test both mics in person, but have read that the SM7 is "thicker" while the RE20 is "lighter/airier."
I'm using a cheap Omni Studio box as a preamp, which I believe contains DMP2 preamps. My voice can probably be best described as slightly low, slightly thick, slightly congested-sounding, sort of in between Lou Reed and Ira Kaplan(?)- the lead singer of Yo La Tengo.
Suggestions welcome.
