Just rec'd my 20Gb 4G iPod as an Xmas gift to myself...
Does anyone have any recommendations for an "up-graded" earphone set?

I'd like to keep it under $75, and don't want full headphones.

Thanks!! Merry Christmas to All!!!!

What do you mean by "full headphones"? If it were me, I'd get the Grado SR60's or Grado SR80's.

Thanks Harvey... welcome back...

By "Full Headphones" I meant a headphone set that covers the exterior portion of the ear, like one would use in the studio... (cups) I don't want or need isolation w/ the iPod.

I still want to hear exterior sounds, conversation, and want something small, light and portable, that goes "in" the ear.

Shure and Sony make a bunch, I just don't know which ones sound good...

Oh... I forgot to add... COMFORT is critical for this application... long term wearing.... The Grado reviews I've read say they sound great, but are uncomfortable. True?

Wow... those Grados get great reviews for sound quality....
(Not so good for style or comfort...)

Found this deciding factor... on CNET....
the SR80 provides better bass and greater overall detail. Those qualities, as well as the headphones' more natural midrange and treble, were readily apparent on our home system. We have reversed preferences on the road; the SR60's more laid-back tonal balance seems to bring out the best in pint-size portable players, such as our Apple iPod.

All in all, the Grado SR80 performs splendidly with music and home theater. However, the step-down SR60 is more efficient and probably better for use with portable MP3 players.

shure make some really nice in ear phones - which by all accounts are of a high quality. not sure what they're called though.

I have used the Grado 60's , they sound great, but I can only wear them for an hour or so. In general, over the ear is more comfortable.
