I know you answered something like this question, but I'm about to but a SOny E-IDE CD-ROM drive, but my original was IDE (I think).
Is it ok to use the Sony?

Remember, all "IDE" after like 1993 is going to be "EIDE". The two terms are interchangable anymore.
IDE, EIDE, ATAPI, ATA....all of these may be referred to under the "IDE" tag these days. All IDE devices made today are EIDE. All IDE CDROM devices are ATAPI. All ATA devices are backwards compatible and will work with all EIDE controllers. All controllers made today will be EIDE, ATAPI, and ATA.
Confusing, isn't it?
