Anybody have "keys" for your voice? Some thought that helps you remember/use the correct technique? Those of us training our voices just might... kind of like "swing keys" for golf...

Just came up with something for my own voice that REALLY helped... the "sing thought (swing thought ;))" is "throat buzz"...

To me, that means remember to "feel that vibration in my voice box", or I'm just pushing air.

How do you do it? Imagine your lungs are a balloon, and you hold the valve so that just a little air leaks out... that's how it feels... it's definitely a "vibration" feel... like a pleasant, buzzing sensation...

If you overdo it, the vibration goes away and you're pushing air with your stomach...

This has helped me cut some great vocals for my newest recording... (which may make it to the mp3 clinic sometime before the year 2014 :))

Anyone else have "sing thoughts"? Chris (Tondreau)? Chris (chessparov)?

My "sing thoughts" involve trying to hit the right note. As far as training and warming up I think you're onto something with the vibration/hummy thing. It also works great for meditation.

So you know, I'm no singer but I sing anyway.

Yeah, during warmups anyways... if you get the voice started... right there where it feels like a violin string vibrating, you've got it...

As for hitting the right note... takes some concentration... if the mind wanders, the voice does too ;)
