Singing/Producing

Hey i have been singing for a little less than a year and havent had a vocal coach , i have just been looking around for pointers on the internet and have taught myself , Now people i have sung with say i am impressive and have the talent , but there is a few problems i require help on , i find it really hard to drag notes on and breathe quite heavily while singing , i think its because i am singing through my nose , how do you know if you arnt singing through your chest , i also have a problem singing in the right tune , I am in a band , and were finding it hard to get money together to properly record so i figured i would get some software on my pc and do it myself , i got adobe audition 1.5 so i would apreciate any pointers on how to get going on that programe , thanks....

Do you have Audition already set up to record, and playback properly? That needs to be sorted out first. What sort of soundcard/input do you have? What sort of outs.....pc speakers, monitors, etc.......

To be honest man i dont know what im doing , i downloaded adobe and it runs fine , i signed up to this board to help me out , my speakers are not great and im my soundcard is a standard one from a few years back , could you tell me what i will need to record guitars , vocals?
