I would say you need to stop recording inside of a tuna can?

Your singing sounds good for the most part. I'd like to hear it with some music and recorded properly (or decently even).

Agreed, much like distortion distorts flaws in guitar playing making them less or unnoticeable, tuna distorts flaws in singing. You have some pitch, timing, and some other issues, but overall it is not bad. However, Like polarity said, are you able to get better sounding recordings? It's hard to hear all the nuances in your voice.

^^^^^^^what THEY said. I have to admit.......I'm wondering how you did that recording. Not to make fun of you for sure..........but you may need us to help you to record better before we can help you with your voice............or even be sure it is a voice :))

hahaha.

What others wrote. Get a decent mic and you will sound even better! I started singing like couple years back and I bought a mic, interface and all that stuff. You can get all that stuff in a couple of days

Hey Marwhite1995,
So I'd like to give you something work on, beyond telling you whether is simply good or bad. I think you have a good voice, however there are some nuances that these performances are missing and they can make a huge difference.

What I think is most important for you to work on right now is phrasing. What I mean by that is how you pace and break up a phrase. As it stands, especially in "stay with me" your phrasing is choppy or staccato. You need to really make the phrasing smooth and legato. If you can smoothen out your phrasing, your singing will instantly improve.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I was recording far away from the in-built mic my computer has, wasn't exactly sure how severe it would affect the actual recording, I recorded closer to the mic, for some new comments in a new thread, thanks for all the feed back though.

What is literally a cheap decent mic I can get for singing/recording? <-- Poor College Sophomore.

@highriser, Thanks! I didn't even notice I did this, it must have carried over with me from some cord closure exercises I watched online that had to do with producing sound.
Now I have something else to work on!

get yourself recorded proper you can def. sing.. that was amazing.. I saw through the quality and the talent was very clear...
amazing... potential for great things

You have a nice tone. Your pitch is generally good, with a few exceptions:

You seem to have some pitch problems, particularly when you jump to a higher note, and on your runs.

Make sure you are nailing those notes you jump up to. Also, on your runs, make sure that you treat every note as equally important. Every note needs to be in tune. One or two bad notes in a run can ruin the whole thing.

I think those two things would really improve your vocals.

You have a nice voice, keep at it :-)

I do agree with the above, what I could hear you have a great voice (not that you can't work on some things). To get recording depending on budget check out the newbie section. Those guys do a pretty good job of keeping up with that's out currently, what's available for different price ranges. Depending on budget I'd think you could get started for under $200 (check up there to be sure though, it's been a while since I was gear shopping).

PreSonus has a studio bundle out with mike, interface, headphones, studio one lite and cables for $200. See Sweetwater or other sites. Just Google "PreSonus Studio" it should come up.

It's a good start. :D
