Brand new little ditty -- simple and quick -- just wrapped up.

Any/all comments appreciated.

Best,

Big bright bold... reminds me of some of the big names out there like Billy Joel or John Mellancamp. Well written, catchy, short and sweet.
Mix is great - is that a bass guitar holdin it down in the beginning? Harmonies like "Angels" lol - great stuff all around!

Songs about over drinking are always fun! :)

And I am SO glad you immediately recognized the "Angels".

The opening is a git, but the bass joins immediately. It's a fat sound, isn't it?

Mr Wayne Glaser from RP on bass btw ...

WAAAAY much better than I could ever dream of.

Had to listen to it twice. The bass rocks. I don't want to turn it up, but I want to hear it *just* a little bit more. What gets its mic turned down lol? Cool song. Jaunty rock.

Nice bee-boppy foot-tapping tune, Kev, real fun to listen to.
Yeah, bass could be a little louder, the playing's awesome.
Once again, great songwriting and performance.:)

PS: did the over-drinking involve scotch....?:D:drunk:

In regards to not hearing the bass ... I believe that due to a little frequency stomping going on ... and there is an ever so slight mud cloud masking in the above version. I changed some things around in this new mix in an attempt to clean that up.

Does the newer version have better "edges" to each element?

Thanks!

I can't hear much difference actually. (One thing this tells me is that if I can hear a difference that a tweak makes on my own stuff, then other people are probably hearing it even more :).) It sounds dumb, but one of the things that has helped me the most in getting everything heard right is to spend less time on EQ and compression and to simply turn stuff down in the mix. Those drums are *really* present and delicious sounding, but they're swamping the bass a bit maybe.

Being a drummer, I rarely ever find myself in this situation, but I'm afraid that the drums are a bit loud. It seems the vocals are by far the loudest, followed by the drums, then the bass, then everything else. Guitars are very, very low in the mix, very often covered up by drums and vocals, or both. I'd either raise the guitars / other instruments for a bit more presence, or lower the vocals / drums to seat in better.

Great sounding vocals, man. Nice tight rhythms, too. Great performance. Nothing much needs fixing except for the mix being out of balance. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the thoughts! I'd wondered if I'd made the drums too forward. This is essentially a drum/bass song with vocals. The guitar is flavoring only. The meat and potatoes are in the other elements. I'll readjust the levels.
