I'm trying to record more than two tracks simultaneously using Cakewalk Pro 8 and the Layla. When I select my audio source I can only choose to use right or left for pairs of inputs -- I can never get more than two "activated". IS this software capable of recording more than two tracks at a time? If so, how do I get things set up to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The Layla has 8 inputs and therefore can do 8 tracks simultaneously. I never used PA8, but I assume it can do more than 2 at a time (certainly PA9 could).

You should set up 8 audio tracks in your Cakewalk project. For Track 1 set the input source as "Layla 1/2 Left" (or something similar to that). For Track 2 set the input source as "Layla 1/2 Right." For Track 3 the input is Layla 3/4 Left, for Track 4 input is Layla 3/4 Right, and so on.

Track 1 should now correspond to input #1 on the Layla. Track 2 = Input 2, and so on.

(This is assumes all of your sources are mono sources, vocals, guitars, bass, etc.)

Now if you arm all 8 tracks for recording, and hit the Transport Record button, you should get 8 simultaneous tracks. (Of course, you can also do less than 8 - but no more).
