I don't really get this stuff, but are you able to chain a di box and a preamp together, or is this a bad idea. And can someone briefly explain to me what line level is? Thanks!
 
Yes, if you plug an instrument into a DI box, you still need to run it through a preamp to bring it up to line level (unless the DI box is also a preamp). Line level...well, ah, it's like louder than the other levels and stuff. :D

A signal whose level falls between -10 dBu and +30 dBu.
