I guess this question is for all of you who have or are planning to submit material to labels and/or publishing houses. Do you think it's better to keep something real simple (i.e. acoustic and vox) or more fully-realized versions of the song? I guess it'd probably depend on the type of song, but I feel my strength as a musician is as a soloist (certainly not my vocals), and feel my take on guitar solos would be my best chance of producing something unique. I've kept solos on recorded stuff short, because I understand that no one wants to sit through a 2 minute solo from an unknown artist, but feel that it's kind of crucial to my sound. Obviously with my limited budget, I can't produce immaculate electric recordings, and I'm in a quandary as to how to approach. I tried doing a song just acoustic and voice that's on my website ("How Far We've Come", www.mp3.com/subparchoir), but it just doesn't "sound like me". Maybe I'm just not accomplished enough at writing this style of song. Thanks for your reply/input/time.
